Sample of a Christmas Letter to Mother in Law

Christmas is an occasion marked by family reunions and bonding, and while you remember your close friends and family members on this day, you shouldn’t miss out your father and mother in law.

Since they are part of your family from your spouse’s side, you should write them a letter on Christmas to let them know that you value them and are thinking of them on this occasion.

Dear Anne,

I am writing this letter on Christmas because I really miss seeing you and Gary. All of us haven’t been able to get together recently, which is why me and Emma are really looking forward to hosting you and Gary for dinner.

We understand you might not be able to make it due to Gary’s commitments, but it would mean a lot to me and Emma if you did.

In either case, I would like to let you know that we often think of you guys and are missing you both especially at this time of the year. I still think about the Christmas you guys had us over at your place, and it was such an amazing time.

We have also invited mom and dad over, so if you guys make it, it would be a good reunion for the family. Both Pete and Jim are also excited to see you all and are wondering what their grandparents have gotten them for Christmas this year.

If you guys can’t come over, do let us know in time and I will send photographs your way or we could all catch up on the internet through video chats.

Once again, have an amazing Christmas and holidays this year!

Lots of love from me and Emma,

Give our regards and love to Gary as well!

-Ben

Tips for Writing a Christmas Letter to Mother in Law

A letter to your mother in law can be from both you and your spouse or your own thing, depending on how you want to do it. It doesn’t need to be formal, since it’s essentially a family letter.

However, even if you are directly addressing your mother in law, do not forget to send regards to your father in law as well. If you are inviting your in-laws over for Christmas, do let them know who else will be coming.

If you are writing to your husband’s mother, you might want to be a little more careful and don’t forget to praise her cooking (not joking).
